Learning Options for Term 2
Wednesday 15 April 2020
Dear Parents/Carers,
In a time of continuing uncertainty for most, our desire is to be a place of consistency and stability for you and your children as we journey through the consequences of COVID-19.
The Queensland Premier has made announcements around schooling for State school students for the first part of Term 2 whereby students who can learn from home are to stay at home. The Federal Education Minister Dan Tehan has also made announcements requiring that Independent schools like ours maintain an on-campus learning option for students. This is to ensure that students that are unable to learn from home have an option to physically attend school. This might include children of essential workers, vulnerable students or students who do not have a safe learning environment at home.
We are ready to teach our students at home (off-campus) or in the classroom (on-campus). Our plan at this stage is to have a modified educational program which is the same whether delivered at home through remote learning, or in the school classroom. This will mean that regardless of whether children are at home for a time, but then need to attend school, they will have a continuous and relatively seamless educational experience. If your child needs to be at school, we are ready to receive them. It is important that together we ensure that your children remain engaged in the learning process and remain connected with us as we seek to deliver a rounded education which meets their social, emotional, physical and spiritual needs.
So, the options available to you throughout Term 2 are:
- Keep students at home to undertake their lessons and schoolwork (off-campus option)
- Send students to school to undertake their lessons and schoolwork (on-campus option)
Whichever option you choose; it is important that you are diligent in keeping us informed as to which option you have selected. It will be very important that as a school we know that if your child is not on-campus, they are absent with your knowledge and permission and appropriate supervision is being provided. Further detail around attendance notifications will be provided to you in due course.
In order to assist our planning and preparation, can you please complete the following survey if you intend to select the ‘Learn from Home’ option next week. This will help us in our efforts to help you.

We will continue to keep you informed of changes as they occur, while continuing to keep our communications clear and succinct.
