Welcome to 2020! We would like to make the transition into the New Year as easy as possible for our families, so please have a read through of the below information for the coming term.

The week before school starts we have some different operating hours for reception:

Monday 20 January: Closed
Tuesday 21 - Friday 27 January: 11:00am - 3:30pm

Meet the Teacher

Friday 24 January | 1:30pm - 3:30pm | Free Sausage Sizzle | Non-uniform dress*

Primary

• Class lists will be available from 1:30pm in T-Zone with staff to assist.
• Students can then meet their teacher in their new classrooms.
• Students are to bring in items from their booklist (we suggest labelling everything).

Secondary

• Students are to bring laptops (we will endeavour to connect students as well as in week 1).
• Students are to meet in SLC undercover area and meet their pastoral care teacher.
• Students will receive their timetable.
• Books are not needed.

*We note our standard code of Dress Code Policy applies to this non-uniform event: ‘All items of clothing worn need to ensure modesty and be sun safe (In particular, short shorts/skirts/short tops/or singlets are NOT allowed.) Messages on clothing need to be positive and not negative or controversial.’ Also, appropriate footwear is necessary.

Facebook Group

Have a question for us at a strange hour? Well, there's a group for that. Join our Facebook Parents and Carers Group and connect with the invaluable resource of the SMC community. Second hand uniforms are regularly listed for sale and we frequently post information and reminders to keep you in the loop.

Note: For privacy reasons we do stress that it is important that the group questions are answered in full when requesting to join.

First Day Back

We note that due to Australia Day falling on Monday 27 January this year, our first day of school will be on Tuesday 28 January - starting at at 8:30am. We are kicking off the year with a photo booth on our brand new Media Wall. There will be fun props and signs so make sure you drop by the T-Zone to get your photo of your students first day of 2020! The photo booth will be ready to go from 8:00am.

Car Parking

For the Meet the Teacher day (Friday 24 January) and the first day back (Tuesday 28 January) the College will be opening up the lower primary oval for parking. This should assist our primary parents and carers needing to drop off books and stationary.

A reminder that booklists for each year level were emailed out in 2019 to parents/carers but are also available for download on our website. We note that Schoolstuff is the college's supplier for 2020. Parents/carers are able to purchase items from other suppliers, however we note there are certain books that only Schoolstuff can supply.

Primary

We recommend labelling everything! Different staff may do this slightly differently, but labelling will ensure that at the end of the year we can return any excess stationery to families. You can even use permanent marker, rather than labels for each item.

Important Secondary Dates

Year 7 Camp

This year our Year 7s will be going on camp very early in the year. In week 2 they will depart on Tuesday 4 February and will return on Friday 7 February. Information regarding what is needed etc will be sent to parents/carers In the first week of school

Secondary Swimming Carnival

On Monday 3 February (Week 2) our Secondary school will be having its Swimming Carnival. Information regarding this event will be sent to parents/carers in week 1.

Secondary Musical Workshop

If you have students itching to perform, make sure they are aware of the secondary musical workshop for auditions on Friday. This year we will be presenting Disney's 'The Little Mermaid'! Audition packs can be downloaded here or collected from Mrs Johnson.

Upper Primary Swimming Carnival

On Friday 7 February (Week 2) our Upper Primary students will have their Swimming Carnival.
