Principal's Message - Term 1, Week 1
‘Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity.’
— Proverbs 21:5 NLT
Without a plan for your life, life just ‘happens’ to you. Some of us plan our lives one day at a time. We wake up, make our to-do list, and dive into action. Some of us even plan our lives one week at a time. We review the calendar for the week, check our appointments, review our goals, and then get to work.
Some of us never plan. Not even for parties. We receive invitations but leave it until the last moment to decide whether to go or not. Just in case something pops up on the day that we’d rather attend instead. We like to think we’re flexible, but we’re just disorganised. And we let our friends down. But we think we didn’t. After all, we didn’t make any promises to them in case we weren’t able to keep our word – when God simply wants us to develop our integrity by saying ‘yes’ or ‘no’ and then not playing games with the truth.
When we behave like this towards our friends or colleagues, we don’t have goals to reach, just desires to fulfil. And they aren’t even long-term desires, just ones of the moment.
So without goals, we wander through life, not achieving much or even learning how to disciple ourselves so we can, one day achieve much.
The thought of planning a month ahead may overwhelm you, so just start by planning your day. Then eventually aim for a week, a month, a year, etc. And if you consult God, ‘He will show you which path to take.’ (Proverbs 3:6 NLT)
